We’ve been made aware of a phishing scam involving emails that falsely claim to represent various legal firms and cite APRA AMCOS, Recorded Music NZ, and other music-related businesses. While OneMusic has not been directly targeted in this scam, we want to be proactive in keeping our customers safe and informed.
At the same time, OneMusic is currently sending legitimate correspondence to our customers regarding changes to our services and operations. We understand how confusing this timing can be.
What to Watch For:
About Our Emails:
We are currently sending out genuine monthly correspondence to existing customers in advance of their billing anniversary, while accounts are being migrated from our old system to our new customer management platform. These emails include details about billing changes, our updated Terms of Use, and other important information.
To verify which updates are legitimate, please visit our official summary page: onemusicnz.com/changes
In addition, OneMusic continues to contact businesses that do not currently hold a music licence, as part of our ongoing responsibility to explain when and why a licence is required. These emails do include information about the legal and financial risks of playing copyrighted music in public without a licence — which makes this phishing scam particularly misleading.
